Hiding Icons


Some computer users like to see icons on the desktop of their computer, meanwhile some others don't. If you are a user who doesn't like to see the icons on the desktop of your computer, you can hide those icons.


To hide the icons, you can do the following things:

  1. Click Start - Run.
  2. Type "regedit".
  3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.
  4. Right-click on the right side of Registry Editor window and choose DWORD value.
  5. Type a new value name "NoDesktop".
  6. Right-click this new value name and click Modify.
  7. Type "1" on the value data to hide the icons.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Restart your computer.


Hide Taskbar

The taskbar can be hidden by doing the following steps:

  1. Right-click the taskbar.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Check Auto-hide the taskbar.
  4. Click OK.


If you want to display the taskbar again, just put the mouse pointer on the hidden taskbar or press the Windows button on the keyboard.

Shortcut Icons without Name

If you see the desktop of your computer, there are several shortcut icons with texts below them. The texts are usually the names of the programs.

Now we are going to omit the texts. Follow these steps:

  1. Click the shortcut icon.
  2. Press F2 button.
  3. Erase the texts.
  4. Press Alt button and type 0160 on the numlock.
Ok... now you can check your icons. The text disappears, doesn't it?

Low space disk warning



When the space of your hard disk is low, Windows will usually give "low disk space" warning on the system tray. This warning sometimes disturbs us. To stop this warning from appearing, do the following steps:
  1. Click Start - Run.
  2. Type "regedit".
  3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.
  4. On the right window of registry editor, right-click the empty space.
  5. Choose New - DWORD Value.
  6. Type the value name "NoLowDiskSpace" and press Enter.
  7. Right-click the new key you've made and choose Modify.
  8. On the Value Data type the number "1".
  9. Press OK.
  10. Restart your computer.

    Minimizing: If your are using multiple programs at a time, then minimize those you are not using.

    Turn Off Animations: Turn off the animations from Display settings.

    Resolutions: Decrease your system resolution as low as possible.
